Meeting Minutes, July 08, 2010
· The meeting of the search committee began at 7:00 pm at the church
· Attendees: Von Oliver, Laura Bratcher, Allison Steineker, Rob Saxton, Paul Stephens
· No guests were present at the meeting.
· Committee discussed the following:
o Minimum and ideal applicant qualifications as determined by the Elders
o Blending a job posting created by Von and a job add created by Allison, to create one job posting/ad that can be used to announce the open position
o A generic employment application produced by Rob that can be customized for RVCC
o Allison will work with Vic to produce an email box on the church website that can be utilized to receive correspondence and applications for the open position.
o Allison will also work with Vic to determine how best to use the RVCC website to provide search committee status reports to the church congregation
o Von will provide an update on the search to the church congregation during the regular Sunday morning service on Sunday July 11
o The committee will then meet with Sunday morning bible groups on Sunday July 18 to solicit their feedback on the ideal candidate
o Laura will attempt to meet with the high school age bible group and Paul with the middle school bible group to solicit their feedback on the ideal candidate
o Rob will begin work on the resume scoring matrix, incorporating the direction from the Elders along with any other feedback from the various bible groups
o Each committee member was assigned a Bible college to be the “key contact” during the search:
§ Laura Milligan/Evangel
§ Von Cincinnati Bible College
§ Rob Johnson
§ Paul Lincoln
§ Allison Kentucky Christian College
The meeting concluded at 8:50 pm.
The next committee meeting will be held at the church on Monday, July 19 at 7:00 pm.

Senior Minister Search Committee
Meeting Minutes, July 01, 2010
· The initial meeting of the search committee began at 7:00 pm at the church
· Committee attendees: Von Oliver, Laura Bratcher, Allison Steineker, Rob Saxton
· No guests were present at the meeting.
· Committee discussed the following:
o Need to meet on a regular basis
o Need to communicate updates and progress reports often with the Elders and the church congregation (via small groups, bible study, etc)
o Idea that the committee could meet with various groups within the church to ask “What are you hoping to see in the next Senior Minister?”
o Von said he had reviewed the church by-laws in regards to any language related to minimum criteria and job qualifications
o Rob presented a draft showing potential step by step activities for the committee to follow (attached)
· Committee discussed the need to get direction from the Elders on the following questions prior to the next meeting:
o What college degrees are required?
o What is the minimum number of years experience required? Years as a senior minister?
o What size church would the ideal candidate come from?
o What is the approximate salary range for the position?
o Does the church have a directory of accredited bible colleges or divinity schools that the committee could use to advertise the position?
o Does the church have an official employment application or will the committee need to develop an application?
· Committee divided work to the members as follows:
o Rob to record meeting minutes and draft a resume scoring process
o Von to follow up with Elders on key questions
o Allison to draft a job posting and employment ad
o Laura to research bible colleges and divinity schools and to draft a list of all groups within the church that the committee can meet with

River Valley Christian Church is seeking applicants interested in serving as Senior Minister. RVCC is a dynamic healthy New Testament Christian Church of passionate followers of Jesus Christ that reaches the unchurched people of the Prospect and Goshen community which is a northern suburb of Louisville, KY.
The Senior Minister will work directly with and be accountable to the Elders of RVCC, who will provide guidance and support for his activities. The Senior Minister will teach Biblical principles, equip and empower the members of RVCC for ministry, and provide leadership that fosters unity, teamwork and a community environment. He will serve as chief administrator of the church staff and serve as a shepherd to the congregation. He will be a servant leader with a teachable spirit, deeply devoted to relationships, prayer, and the Word of God.
River Valley Christian Church is seeking a leader who will effectively support the mission of the church which is to search for those who do not know Jesus, as well as, believers who wish to acquire a deeper knowledge and stronger personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The leadership and congregation of RVCC will minister to those in need and serve as a model of Christianity for our community.
Applicants should have a minimum of Bachelors Degree in ministry (Masters Degree is a plus) from an accredited Bible College or Christian University within the Christian Church/Churches of Christ brotherhood and the following criteria:
· Ten years experience in ministry
· Minimum of four years experience as a minister overseeing a staff of three or more
· Four years experience in preaching either as a senior minister at a medium size church or associate minister for a larger congregation
· Preference will be given to applicants with experience leading churches with more than 300 members.
